PCC offers body image class

PORTLAND, Ore. – The coiffed, toned woman in the magazine you see is actually an abnormality – not the norm. But if you are one of the millions of people that compare yourself with these glossy pages rather than simply appreciating what you see in the mirror, you may need an opportunity to re-focus on the truth. This summer – just in time for bathing suit season – Portland Community College will offer Body Wisdom: Enhancing Self-Esteem and Body Image, a non-credit class. Led by instructor Maria Brignola Lee, students will enjoy relaxing body and mind activities designed to enhance self-esteem and body image in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. Students are asked to wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket and or a mat. This four-week class will meet from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, June 22 to July 13, in Room 102 of Mt. Tabor Hall at PCC’s Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Cost is $29. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-788-6265.
