TWO ITEMS: Rediscover Shakespeare's ?Hamlet' with PCC class

PORTLAND, Ore. – To be or not to be? That is the question as well as other themes that will be explored in a new non-credit class offered by Portland Community College. Hamlet in Depth, led by instructor John Mills, can reintroduce you to Shakespeare’s incredible play. Through close reading, lecture, discussion and viewing of selected filmed performances, students will discover the sources of the play’s timeless and universal appeal. Read the play before attending class, then come and see how the words Shakespeare penned so long ago still ring true in the world today. This two-day class will meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 25 and June 26, at the Friendly House, Inc., 1737 N.W. 26 Ave. Cost is $49. Discover how this economy of brush strokes is used to communicate the very essence of a subject through a non-credit art class offered by Portland Community College. Instructor Joy Mills will lead the two-day SUMI-E Workshop this June. Students will create black and white artworks using techniques from the Orient in this quiet, meditative style of painting. Each day will be a complete lesson and is intended for all levels of experience.
