TIGARD, Ore. – Want to learn how to fix a few things around the house? Don’t know where to start? Come join others like yourself and learn hands-on from a woman who has done her own repairs for the last 14 years. This fall, Portland Community College will present a non-credit Basic Home Maintenance Series led by instructor Harriett Miller. Learn the basic tools you should always keep handy, and how to use them to fix common household problems. Students will learn how to repair or replace outlets, light switches, fixtures, running toilets, dripping faucets, doorknobs, locks and much more. The series includes easy tips for keeping your walls looking great with expert patching and painting. The series is comprised of five sessions meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct.12 through Nov. 9, at the Tigard Senior Center, 8815 S.W. O’Mara St. Cost for the series is $59 plus a $15 fee payable to the instructor. Individual classes may be taken at a cost of $19 each with a $3 material fee payable to the instructor.
