Perfect your game face with PCC poker lessons

Photos and story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – Poker: the game once reserved for cowboys and saloons, and now spurred across the nation by television’s "World Poker Tour." A new non-credit class offered by Portland Community College can show you, too, how to "know when to hold em and when to fold ’em." Hold-em Poker will introduce you to the most popular "live" game played in a casino. Instructor Martin Alexander will show casual players the tricks to improving their game and strategies to raising the odds of a winning hand. "For less money than you would probably lose in a poker match you can sharpen your skills in one Saturday morning," said Alexander. "I’ll show you how to get the most fun out of this timeless card game." The one-day class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 2, at PCC’s Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Cost is $19.For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-788-6265.
