Enjoy a year-round garden with container gardening class

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Don’t let winter put a freeze on your love of gardening. A new Portland Community College non-credit course lets you experience the joy of cultivating a garden in containers a technique you can enjoy all year long. Year-Round Container Gardening will explain how to assemble container plants with all-season interest for your garden or patio. The class covers types of containers, choice of plants to use (trees to annual flowers), and how to care for them. Students will also get a planting demonstration on how to get started right away. The one-day class will meet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Cornell Estates Retirement Center, 1005 N.E. 17th Ave. in Hillsboro. Cost is $19.
