Rock Creek art exhibit shows vibrant colors of Mexico

ROCK CREEK CAMPUS – A Hillsboro artist will have her watercolor series on exhibit at the Rock Creek Art Gallery.Veronica Guzman’s "Mexico Series," will be on display through Jan. 13, focusing her work on plants and patterns that bring color to the Mexico landscape. There will be an artist’s reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 13 in the gallery, 17705 N.W. Springville Road.Guzm’n works in several media and has a degree in graphic design, but has also studied printmaking, painting and ceramics, and moves fluidly between these materials, depending on her focus."My recent work consists in series of M’xico images, where I’m trying to give the feeling of the richness and folklore that M’xico have but with a different point of view," Guzman said. "This series is in watercolor and acrylic. I also do paper Mache sculptures for completing this series with a touch of magic and color."Guzm’n’s work has been exhibited widely, both in this country and in Mexico. In January 2005, she will move to China with her husband and young son. She has become intrigued with Chinese calligraphy, and is fascinated by the chance to absorb a new culture.Rock Creek Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
