Snowshoeing class lets you visit the mountain on foot

PORTLAND, Ore. – Tour Mount Hood the Eskimo way: Portland Community College will present a snowshoe lesson and tour this winter. Instructor Ken Barker will lead Snowshoe Lesson and Tour, especially designed for both beginners and intermediates. Trounce through snowdrifts in an invigorating and inspiring journey. The non-credit trip is between two to six miles with less than a 750-foot elevation gain/loss. The one-day class and tour will be offered five times this term as follows: Sunday, Jan. 16; Sunday, Feb. 13; Saturday, Feb. 19; Saturday, March 12; and Sunday, March 13. The tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and students will meet at the Huckleberry Inn Building, 88611 E. Government Camp Loop. Cost is $56 for each class and includes snowshoes.
