Turn glass shards into artwork with PCC stained glass class

Photos and story by

TIGARD, Ore. – If sunlight through cathedral windows leaves you awed, Portland Community College might have just the class to tap your inner artist. An upcoming non-credit class in stained glass can inspire you to make glorious multi-colored creations of your own. Stained Glass: for All Skill Levels, taught by Vincent Cartales, is a great way to get started in stained glass without having to purchase tools. In this eight-week course, beginners will build two small panels, one each of copper foil and lead. For those with prior experience, this class can help to improve the skills you already possess. Experienced students may select the project of their choice. The class will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan.10 through March 7, at Rose’s Glassworks and Gifts, 10105 S.W. Hall Blvd. Cost is $89 plus an additional $150 material fee payable to Rose’s. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-731-6642.
