Cascade Campus hosts Financial Aid Day

CASCADE CAMPUS – Portland Community College is staging Financial Aid Day at the north Portland Cascade Campus. PCC advisors will provide personalized assistance to future college students with completion of their free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).This event is open to prospective students, including high school seniors, who plan to enroll in college during the 2005-06 academic year.Financial Aid Day is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22 in the 106-seat Computer Resource Center in the Cascade Campus Technology Education Building, located at 705 N. Killingsworth St. It is free and open to the public.Students are urged to come early to ensure adequate time to complete the online FAFSA. There will be valuable information on hand about other financial aid tools and scholarships such as the Oregon Opportunity Grant (need-based), Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants, College Work-Study and more."There are many opportunities available for students through these and other programs, and we want to make sure that students and parents are aware and apply early," said Algie Gatewood, Cascade Campus president. Gatewood added that Gov. Kulongoski’s budget proposal provides almost $92 million in Oregon Opportunity Grant dollars for students who complete the FAFSA. "Thus, attending the Financial Aid Day program is even more important," he said. Parking will be free on campus that day.
