Learn Irish language with PCC lessons

PORTLAND, Ore. – Want to keep your Irish heritage alive, or just like the sound of the Irish brogue? This spring, you can learn the language of the Emerald Isle with three levels of non-credit classes offered by Portland Community College. Instructor Eric Zoerner will use conversation methods that make language-learning fun. Irish (Gaelic) Conversation: Beginning Term I is designed for those who have little or nor Irish speaking ability. Learn the basics through pronunciation, spelling, written exercises, vocabulary, and conversation. The class will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, March 29 through May 17, in Room 124 at Grant High School, 2245 N.E. 36th. Cost is $109. Irish (Gaelic) Conversation: Beginning Term II picks up where Term I left off with a continued emphasis on conversation, vocabulary, and grammar through the use of written exercises, games, and traditional songs. The class will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, March 30 through May 18, in Room 124 at Grant High School. Cost is $109. Irish (Gaelic) Conversation: Beginning Term III continues to develop your knowledge of the Irish language through constant conversation, vocabulary and grammar exercises. Discover tips on how to further study Irish locally and abroad. The class will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, March 31 through May 19, in Room 124 at Grant High School.
