Forum to feature PCC board candidates

PORTLAND, Ore. – With the election is just a month away on May 17, the public will have a special opportunity to meet candidates for four positions on the Portland Community College Board.The college is hosting a forum for board candidates from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19 in Conference Room B of the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. These positions are up for election to four-year terms. Each candidate will prepare a brief introduction and share why they want to be on the PCC board. There will be time for questions and answers. The public is invited and parking is free."I encourage people to attend and to pose questions to these candidates," said PCC District President Preston Pulliams. "This will be the only opportunity to meet the candidates and hear their views prior to the May 17 election."The candidates include: Denise Frisbee (Zone 1, Lake Oswego/Tigard/Tualatin/Sherwood); Jim Harper, George Hendrix and Richard LaMountain (Zone 4, parts of southwest/northwest/southeast and downtown Portland); Doreen Margolin and David Squire (Zone 5, southwest and southeast Portland); and Jaime Lim (Zone 6, east Washington County/southwest Portland).The PCC Board of Directors is responsible for the budget and overall policy direction and governance of the college. Board meetings are held twice a month, in the evening, generally on the first and third Thursday. This is a volunteer position; board members are not paid for their services.
