Photos and story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – A new tool at Portland Community College Library will give students and the public an opportunity to hone their skills taking practice tests to reach their school and career goals. The Learning Express Library is a free interactive online database that features more than 300 practice tests based on official school and career exams. Tests include ACT, SAT, GED, firefighter, police officer, paramedic, EMT basic, U.S. citizenship, postal worker, real estate sales agent and broker, among others. The service is free and open to the public. The practice tests include immediate scoring, detailed answer explanations, recommendations for additional practice and online courses that will help with performance on subsequent tests. "The people who have used them seem quite happy," said Tony Greiner, reference librarian at the Cascade Campus. "The database has a lot to offer and you can’t beat the price." PCC’s libraries are located at: Sylvania Campus: 12000 S.W. 49th Avenue. Rock Creek Campus: 17705 N.W. Springville Road. Cascade Campus: 705 N. Killingsworth Street. For more information and a full list of tests and online courses available, call the PCC Library at Sylvania 503-977-4500; Cascade 503-978-5269; or Rock Creek 503-614-7239.
