Jewelry workshop makes wearable memories

PORTLAND, Ore. – Symbolic images and words from your past can be used to create wearable works of art. This July, Portland Community College will show you how with a one-day workshop where you can make personalized jewelry.Memory Jewelry, a non-credit class, will begin by working with glass pebbles. Instructor Bridget Benton will then lead students to capture images and words inside the glass to create pendants, earrings and magnets. Students will finish seven unique pieces in the class.The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 23, in Room 134 of Mt. Tabor Hall at the PCC Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Cost is $19, plus an $8 materials fee which includes two pendants, one pair of earrings and four magnets.For more information, contact the PCC Community Education office at 503-788-6265.
