'Spanish for School Teachers' gives educators a leg up

PORTLAND, Ore. – In cases where two teachers are equally qualified, schools will choose the person who is. Portland Community College can help teachers meet the demands of the changing face of Oregons student population in a language class especially designed for educators.Spanish for School Teachers will focus on the special needs and situations encountered by teachers when dealing with Spanish-speaking students their parents. Learn to "break the ice" with words and phrases taught in practical classroom contexts. Instructor Lucia Torres will give you tools to understand and reach your students as you learn language basics and get an insight into Latin American culture.The eight-week class will meet from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 23 through Aug. 11, at the PCC Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Cost is $199.For more information, contact the PCC Community Education office at 503-731-6642.
