Your trees grow in beauty and stature with PCC class

Photos and story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – Think of the tree you just purchased as a lifetime investment. How well your tree grows depends on the type of tree and location you select for planting, the care you provide when the tree is planted, and follow-up care the tree receives after planting. Learn from an expert gardener how to nurture your trees with a Portland Community College non-credit class beginning this June. Instructor and nurseryman Mario Vaden will teach Pruning, Tree Care and Related Landscape Needs. Students will get top-notch information for tree and shrub care as well as pruning, soil care, sunburn protection, mulching, plant placement and more. Students are encouraged to come with questions. The class will meet from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays, June 21 through July 12, at the PCC Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Cost is $39. For more information, contact the PCC Community Education office at 503-788-6265.
