PCC joins Festival Japan 2005 activities

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College is joining Festival Japan 2005 to celebrate Japanese culture and provide information on college services. PCC will have an admissions, ESL and ENNL information table open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17-18 at Uwajimaya in Beaverton (10500 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway). The two-day festival highlights performances, exhibitions, cultural demonstrations, artisans and Japanese children’s games. The event features taiko drumming, ikebana, martial arts and cooking demonstrations. Besides PCC, the festival will include companies and non-profit organizations wanting to make a Japanese connection and showcase their support. Sponsors include the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce, Japan America Society of Oregon (JASO), NW Natural and Uwajimaya.
