PCC to hold open auditions for 'Urinetown'

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College’s Theater Arts Program is hosting auditions for, "Urinetown." The popular musical, written by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann, is set to run from March 9-19. Michael Najjar, theater arts instructor, will direct "Urinetown." The auditions for these productions are from 3 to 7 p.m., Nov. 14-16 at the Performing Arts Center on the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. The audition requirements include:Monday, Nov. 14: Candidates should prepare 32 bars of a song from a musical theater score (not from "Urinetown" and no "easy piano" music or "lead sheets"). No choreography will be necessary for this initial audition.Tuesday, Nov. 15: This audition will be for dance. Candidates should wear movement clothing and, if possible, dance shoes. If dance shoes are not available, people will be asked to audition barefoot.Wednesday, Nov. 16: This date is for callbacks. If selected, all performers must enroll for at least one credit at PCC.
