Free brown-bag lecture series revs up your lunch hour

PORTLAND, Ore.- Are you spending a bit too much time with your computer lately? Are you ready for a lunch hour in the company of people and ideas? The Portland Community College non-credit, free lunch and learn lecture series may be just what you need. Hear from professional, energetic speakers about issues relevant to your professional and personal life. Bring your lunch and join us noon to 1 p.m. every Thursday, Jan. 12 through Feb. 16, at the Downtown Central Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave. Portland Community College’s Downtown Lecture Series will include the following free topics: Communicate with Precision (Jan. 12). When we communicate with precision we avoid misunderstandings and improve all our relationships. Speaker Phil Mandel will discuss powerful tools to sharpen your communication skills. Meaningful Work (Jan. 19). Are you in a job transition, seeking a new career or wanting more balance between life and work? Join speaker Pam Brown and get in touch with who you are and what you want to do. Breathing Life into the Bottom Line (Jan. 26). Speaker Al Lee covers how conscious breathing techniques can improve your health,energy, creativity and emotional well being. Changing Times, Changing Dreams (Feb. 2). Life changes as we get older. Speaker Jean Johnson will discuss how to reconnect to olddreams, weed out those that no longer fit, and dream new dreams with purpose, passion and pizzazz! Courage to Confront (Feb. 9). Is something bothering you? Find out why it’s important to speak up. Speaker Carolyn Waterfall explores how to make others aware of your thoughts and feelings in a constructive way. Staying Calm in a Crisis (Feb. 16). Your heart races, you can’t concentrate, can’t sleep and you may even cry at the drop of a hat.
