PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for 2005. It’s the fifth straight year PCC has received this honor. Institutions that have high standards of governmental budgeting receive this award. In order to receive the budget award, the recipient had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, which includes how well it serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. "PCC is the only community college in Oregon that receives such an award and is among the few of all the Oregon municipalities," said Wing-Kit Chung, Associate Vice President of Financial Affairs at PCC. "It is especially rewarding when we had to go so much changes and reductions in the past few years and yet we maintained the level of professionalism and maximum disclosure of our budget." The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving 14,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The group has awarded 900 Distinguished Budget Awards since 1984.
