Southeast Center Hosts Asian New Year

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College is celebrating the year of the dog with music, entertainment, food, vendors, door prizes and much more. The Southeast Center (2305 SE 82nd Ave.) is inviting the public and students to come and experience the campus’ annual Asian New Year’s Celebration at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 in the Great Hall. Food is $1 and parking is free.The event features a lion dance, Chinese dances, martial arts, and an Asian children costume contest. Demonstrations include Chinese brush painting, face painting, how to use chopsticks, and paper cutting. Also, there will be various tables of Asian art products for sale and the PCC Dragon Boat Team will be signing up recruits. Nan Poppe, PCC’s Extended Learning Campus president, and Jamie Lim, PCC Board member, will provide welcoming remarks.For more information, call 503-244-6111, ext. 3710.
