Make your own fleece socks in PCC class

Photos and story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – There is no better feeling than slipping your feet into a pair of toasty warm fleece socks. Wearing socks you made yourself would make the experience even better. Portland Community College is offering a non-credit class this spring that gives the satisfaction of making your own socks, from finding the fleece to wearing the finished product.

Join instructor Connie VanDyke, an urban permaculture farmer for From Fleece to Socks. The class will explore finding, growing, dyeing and knitting fleece. Students will leave with a finished pair of socks.

The class will meet from 7 to 9 p.m., Mondays, April 3 through April 24, at the PCC Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Cost is $120.

For more information, contact the PCC Community Education office at 503-788-6265.
