Music class takes world tour without leaving home

PORTLAND, Ore. – Have you ever wondered why certain cultures have such different musical styles? This spring Portland Community College will take a look at various cultures by examining their music.

World Music: Ethnomusicology takes a musical world tour without leaving Portland! Instructor Ann Weiss will guide students in learning, listening, playing and singing music from Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. No prior music experience required.

The class will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Wednesdays, April 12 through June 7, in Room 303 at the PCC Central Portland Workforce Training Center, 1626 S.E. Water Ave. Cost is $99.
