Photos and story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – Budding artists often find it intimidating to locate partners that are willing to help promote their work. This spring, a Portland Community College non-credit class takes artists through the basics of turning their art into a lucrative business.

Art as Business emphasizes the business relationship between talent, galleries and clients. Instructor Norman Thomas will cover writing, portfolio presentations, selling, gallery policies, copyright issues, and more. Students will come away equipped with the tools needed to be successful.

The class will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Thursdays, April 6 through May 11, at the PCC Cascade Campus, 705 N. Killingsworth St. Cost is $75.
