Photos and story by

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Writing an effective resume is always a challenging task, but for those who are new to the English language it can be a barrier to employment. This spring, Portland Community College will offer non-native English speakers the opportunity to work with an experienced instructor in a non-credit workshop designed to develop winning resumes and cover letters.

Resume Workshop for Non-Native English Speakers will help ESL students create effective job search materials, or improve on what they already have. Rodrigo Aquirre will cover different resume formats and tricks for writing a persuasive cover letter. Students will walk away with the skills they need to apply for jobs with confidence.

The class will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursdays, April 6 through April 27, at the PCC Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Cost is $35.
