Flamenco dance class for beginners

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College is offering a Flamenco Dance class for beginner and experienced dancers this fall.

The two-credit class, Ethnic Dance, focuses on the exciting rhythms and elegant style of Flamenco. Students will learn how to incorporate basic technique, footwork, arm movements, and palmas (hand-clapping), as they explore the passion and intensity of the beautiful, expressive art form. No prior dance experience necessary. The class will be held from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Room 101 of the HT Building at the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.

Instructor Diana LoVerso has danced and taught Flamenco professionally for many years. She has performed with Puro Arte Flamenco at PCC, Morca-Flamenco in Concert in Washington State, and Amor Espana in Oregon and Japan.
