Lunch and Learn series explores life lessons

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College is hosting a non-credit, free professional development series called “Lunch and Learn.”
The Lunch and Learn Series is designed to have professionals learn about new ideas on how to make their life at work better. This is a non-credit series, which features professional, energetic speakers about issues relevant to their work and personal life.
Bring your lunch and join other professionals, noon to 1 p.m., Thursdays, Oct. 19 through Nov. 16 at the Downtown Central Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave. The series will include the following topics:
Break the Power of Fear and Shame – On Oct. 19, David Bryen shows how fear and shame can cause procrastination, low self esteem, defensiveness, hostility and difficult relationships. Learn to quiet the inner critic.
Beyond Networking: Grow a Community Around What You Love – On Oct. 26, Carolyn Campbell will help you draw people to your business, or to you, by putting your passion, interest and integrity upfront.
Negotiating Skills for Success – On Nov. 2, learn straight talk to uncover hidden agendas and resolve conflict for personal and professional success from speaker Sam Imperati.
Setting Boundaries – On Nov. 9, Gail Corbly says boundaries can define who we are and what we need. Discover how creating healthy boundaries can improve your relationships and enhance your life.
Life Lessons from the Couch – On Nov. 16, Rob Solomon will use his 25 years of clinical mental health counseling experience to help you with concepts and practical life tools learned through the therapy process without fees or health insurance hassles.
