Herrera leads by example
Photos and story by James Hill
Claudia Herrera, 18, isn’t your typical PCC freshman. The Aloha resident is a “semi-freshman” as she calls it.
While in her junior and senior years at Century High School, Herrera found that, despite being in accelerated classes in school, she needed something more challenging. So, she took a few credit classes at PCC.
“I took the classes to get ahead,” Herrera said. “I thought, ‘Why not take the opportunity to get ahead and keep myself occupied?’ I was taking AP History and advanced English at Century and I still found those easy. So I decided to get started with college a little early.”
Now, Herrera enters her first full term at PCC’s Rock Creek Campus. She has a full load of classes for fall term
