Service learning and civic engagement speaker comes to Cascade

Come participate in a lively discussion about the role of the college in the community, facilitated by Dr. Robert Franco. The event will be held Thursday, November 2nd from 1:30-3:00 pm in Terrell Hall 112 on the Cascade Campus.
Dr. Franco is Director of Planning and Grants at Kapi’olani Community College, University of Hawai’i. His service-learning commitment and civic engagement stems from more than 25 years of island and urban research. He has provided service-learning training and technical assistance for more than 140 community colleges and universities in 31 states and three U.S. territories. He is currently Campus Compact Senior Faculty Fellow for Community Colleges where he is researching how service-learning and civic engagement support retention and academic success for developmental and New American students, workforce and community development outcomes, and closing the minority achievement gap in undergraduate education.
