Class explores to homeschool or not to homeschool?
Photos and story by James Hill
HILLSBORO, Ore. – It’s tough enough to get a quality education without all the uncertainty of school funding. Maybe you have thought that homeschooling could be the answer. This spring, Portland Community College will cover the basics that you need to know before starting a homeschooling program.
The non-credit class, The Decision to Home School, is a balanced look at homeschooling by a mom with seven years of experience and seven years of teaching in public schools. Instructor Ann Olson-Stanley will cover the pros and cons to help you make your decision and receive information on getting started, styles, laws, etc.
The class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in Room 114 at Glencoe High School, 2700 N.W. Glencoe Road. Cost is $19. For more information, contact PCC’s Community Education Office at 503-533-2708.
