PCC Theatre Arts presents the 2007 Student One Act Play Festival, to premiere April 19, 20, and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22 at 2 p.m. at the Sylvania Campus Little Theatre. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. For more information, call the PCC Theatre

Arts Box Office at 503-977-4949.

The plays selected this year are, “Waiting for Baby James,” by Emma Pattee, directed by Madeline McClure; “Jakes,” by Nick James, directed by Chad McNeill; and, “Beginner’s Luck,” by Will Lund, directed by Alex Groveman.

“Beginner’s Luck,” is a tale of two strangers discussing life, love, and existence over a game of chess. Gradually, they realize they might not be such strangers to one another as they thought. “Jakes,” is a film-noir tale that begins with Jakes waking from a hangover to find himself in the midst of a murder mystery. Evita wants her husband dead. Harold wants his wife faithful. And Jakes just wants to sleep through it all. “Waiting for Baby James,” is a contemporary drama. After Sally and Robert lose their son in the Iraq war, they look to his pregnant wife for stability. Coming together for the Thanksgiving holiday, the family begins to question each other’s values, faith, and blind patriotism.

The Annual Student One-Act Play Festival solicits plays by PCC students, selected by a

group of PCC Theatre Arts faculty and student peers. The directors are also PCC

students and are chosen for their theatrical experience.
