Westside job fair features nearly 1,000 job-seekers

More than 900 job seekers now have a way to get connected to employment opportunities on the west side.
Portland Community College is hosting the Second Annual Westside Link Job and Career Fair, featuring nearly 60 employers. The fair will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23 at the Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club in Hillsboro, located at 4800 N.E. Belknap Court. Industries represented at this year’s fair include manufacturing, high tech, health care, finance, retail, construction and hospitality. Co-sponsors include the CAPITAL Career Center, WorkSource Portland Metro and Western Washington County Employer Council. This event is free and open to the public.
“The Westside Link Job and Career Fair is an incredible opportunity for employers to link together with the strong and well-qualified workforce of Washington County,” said Rachel Mack, business services coordinator for PCC’s Workforce Development.
Employers attending include U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, Barrett Business Services (BBSI, Inc.), Schwan’s Home Services, Davis Tool, Maxim Integrated Products, Department of Transportation, Vital Technical Marketing (VTM, Inc.), Employment Trends, Community Services, Inc, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Farmers Insurance, Farmington Square, Kelly Services, Cintas Corporation, Express Personnel Services, Latin News/Noticias Latinas, Lile International Companies, City of Beaverton, Oregon Army National Guard, CampusPoint, Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal, Employers Overload, Aflac, Bimbo Bakeries USA (Oroweat), Oregon Child Development Coalition, Macy’s, and more.
Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resume. The Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club is conveniently serviced by the Tri-Met Blue Line Hawthorn MAX Station at N.E. Elam Young Pkwy, south of Cornell Rd. The nearest Park and Ride lots are at the Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport Station and the Orenco/NW 231st Ave Station.
