Native American elder to speak at Sylvania

Native American Elder Linda Meanus will speak at PCC on Friday, May 25 at 10 a.m. in TCB 218 at the Sylvania Campus. Meanus, an elder of the Warm Springs Tribe, is a traditional dancer, accomplished regalia designer, seamstress, and beader. She will speak about her art, the tradition of women’s work as beaders and regalia seamstresses, the meaning of the designs she creates and the many ceremonial and celebratory uses for her creations. The clothing she has created is worn by family and tribal members and used in traditional dancing at ceremonies and powwows. For more information, call 503-977-8101.
