Learn to create a birdfeeder for your garden

Photos and story by

If your garden seems to be missing that something special, maybe a birdbath or a feeder might help. It will attract many kinds of birds and liven up your outdoor living space. This fall Portland Community College will offer a non-credit class in which you can craft the perfect birdbath or feeder to fit into your garden setting.

In this 90-minute workshop, Cast Birdbath/Feeder, instructor Kay Mattson will teach students how to embed hardware so the concrete leaf can be suspended in the garden on a copper pole. All materials are included in the tuition. The one-day class will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Artful Garden, 222 E. Main St. Cost is $35.
