Folk music festival at Cascade on Nov. 1
Photos and story by James Hill
On Thursday, Nov. 1, the Portland FolkMusic Society is presenting a folk festival through the Cascade Campus Professional Music Program. The show will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Moriarty Arts and Humanities Building.
The featured performers are dynamic Atlanta blues singer-songwriter Caroline Aiken; Hawkeye Herman, international blues artist (who also presents Blues in the Schools programs); Frank Jones, the “cultural mayor” of Toledo, Ohio and a folk performer; and a brand new group, The Refugees, consisting of Cindy Bullins, Deborah Holland, and Wendy Waldman. All three have extensive songwriting, recording and performing credits including stints with the bands Animal Logic and Bryndle. Their music has been featured in films and on many CDs.
Tickets are $12 for PCC students or staff. Advance registrations are suggested via email at: r2s@comcast.net.
