The PCC Grants Office announced that the college’s Workforce & Economic Development Division of the Extended Learning Campus is a key partner in a three-year $5 million U.S. Department of Labor grant awarded to the state of Oregon.

The project, known as WIRED, will transform the regional economy including Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Columbia, Marion, Yamhill, and Polk Counties. This broad-scale project will focus on the needs of advanced manufacturing and will involve Workforce Investment Boards, community colleges, K-12, industry and other key stakeholders. As a part of the project, community colleges will align curriculum through reverse engineering to promote talent management; build the Career Pathways Roadmap; and develop re-careering strategies for mature adults to keep their skills and experience in the workforce.

PCC will lead the involvement of community colleges in the region. Collectively, the partnering community colleges (PCC, Mt. Hood, Clackamas and Chemeketa) will receive $385,222 in the first year of the project, with additional funding anticipated in the following years.
