Sivak to have drawings on display at prominent New York gallery

PCC’s own Marie Sivak is going places; New York to be exact. A number of drawings by the Sylvania Campus art instructor will be included in the exhibition "Narrations" at the Nancy Margolis Gallery in New York. The exhibition will take place from Jan. 17 through March 1. The opening reception is Thursday, Jan. 17. Sivak will be giving a lecture about her work at the gallery on Saturday, Jan. 19.

A Cleveland native, Sivak has recently shown her work at A.I.R. Gallery in New York, Art London with Panter & Hall Gallery; The Drawing Gallery, London; Kunstihoone, Tallinn Estonia; and Palazzo Pretorio, Volterra, Italy. She has shown her work extensively in the Pacific Northwest; her most recent solo exhibition was at the Laura Russo Gallery in Portland in November 2007.

She was the 2005 winner of the Yeck National Young Sculptor’s Award, (Oxford, Ohio), a recipient of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Professional Fellowship and a grant from the Ruth Chenven Foundation. Sivak’s work has been collected nationally and internationally and is included in the Victoria and Albert Museum (London). She has taught sculpture, basic design, and drawing since 1997 at PCC’s Sylvania Campus.
