Maneuver the Medicare maze with PCC
Photos and story by James Hill
The federal Medicare system can seem like a giant puzzle to those nearing their retirement years. This winter, let Portland Community College shed some light on the subject in a specialized Medicare class.
In the non-credit class, Medicare 101, students will learn how to understand Medicare, which can be a daunting task at any age. Instructor Larry McMacken will guide attendees through the ABCs of the Medicare system and show them what to look for, how to find help and how to cover costs beyond what is paid for by Medicare.
The class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays, Feb. 23 through March 1, Room 1544, Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Cost is $19. For more information, contact PCC’s Community Education Office at (503) 533-2708.
