PCC's Southeast Center celebrates 'Asian' New Year

The Chinese Year of the Rat is coming and Portland Community College will honor the new year in style.

PCC’s Southeast Center is hosting its annual Asian New Year Celebration at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 18. The event, which will be held at the banquet room of Legin Restaurant (8001 S.E. Division), features music, arts and crafts, entertainment, games, food, door prizes and plenty of lion dancers. The Asian New Year Celebration is free and open to the public. Children are welcome.

Food is $1 and parking is free. The event features a lion dance, Chinese dances, martial arts and activities for children, such as how to use chopsticks, lantern making, and face painting. Nan Poppe, president of Extended Learning Center, will provide welcoming remarks.
