Ayo highlights diversity event at Sylvania

The Sylvania Diversity Committee’s spring term kick-off event, “We Can Fix It,” will feature speaker, artist and author Damali Ayo. Using humorous stories, creative visuals and gripping examples from real life and from her best-selling book, “How to Rent a Negro,” Ayo offers advice about how to improve handling the topic of race, as well as practical solutions to create healthy, productive racial interactions.

The event is slated for Wednesday, April 9 in the CC Cafeteria center stage, from noon to 1:30 p.m. All students, faculty and staff are welcome. Faculty are encouraged to bring their classes to the presentation as extra credit or as a class session, as Ayo offers both an inspirational and practical messages. For staff and faculty, Ayo will engage in a discussion in the Sylvania Teaching Learning Center from 2 to 3 p.m.
