Nominations for Chavez award now being accepted at the Rock Creek Campus

The annual Distinguished Service Award recognizes a student, faculty member and a community member who best exemplifies the ideals of Cesar Chavez. Typically, nominees make meaningful contributions to the community through leadership, service, and education.

People are encouraged to nominate anyone who meets the nomination criteria for the Distinguished Service Award. Your nomination must include: an essay illustrating the nominee’s qualifications within these criteria. The essay must be in printed form with 500 words or less. Letters of support and multiple nominators are welcomed. Three awards will be given, one student, faculty member and community member.

Criteria includes: support for civil rights in words and actions; advocate for social and economic justice in words and actions; demonstrated strong and growing commitment to service; and leadership in moving and motivating others toward an understanding of, and quest for human rights and social justice for all people.
