Helzer Art Gallery is 'Politics as Usual'
Photos and story by James Hill
Victor Maldonado’s exhibit, “Politics as Usual,” will be on show now through May 2 at the Helzer Art Gallery at the Rock Creek Campus. In his paintings and his prints, Maldonado uses images drawn from his own Mexican heritage and from the culture of assimilation. The exhibit includes visions of pop bottles, low-riders, icons of Catholicism and fieldworkers.
Maldonado makes art from his own history as migrant worker and as immigrant. He will give an artist’s talk and reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 23. The Helzer Gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is in Room 122 of Building 3.
