The audience at the Wednesday, April 16, Crossroads Lecture will imagine the Ice Age floods that deposited deep layers of fertile topsoil throughout the Palouse and Willamette Valley and rafted huge rocks inside massive icebergs hundreds of miles downstream, including the Willamette Meteorite found in West Linn.

Mark Buser – whose intense interest in the story of the meteorite and the largest floods known to have occurred on this planet – will present “Pearl of the Ice Age Floods.” The monthly Crossroads Lecture will take place at the Washington County Museum on the Portland Community College Rock Creek Campus. Admission to the 3:30 p.m. presentation is $3 per person and free to WCHS members, employees or corporate members and PCC faculty, students and staff. Parking in Lot A in front of the museum is free with a museum permit. The Washington County Museum is located on the Portland Community College Rock Creek Campus.

Buser will discuss the Ice Age floods, which some scientists label “one of the biggest geologic events in world history”. His presentation will reveal the connection between the floods and the Northwest’s dramatic beauty and unique geology.
