Pull the trigger on treating pain with PCC class
Photos and story by James Hill
Trigger points, which are hyperirritable places located throughout the body, can be extremely painful and hard to find. However, these tender spots can be isolated and treated from home with a little instruction and practice.
This summer, Portland Community College and instructor Marcia Hansen will offer two, one-day, non-credit classes designed to give students the necessary knowledge and tools to treat specific trigger points in the lower and upper body. Both classes will meet at the Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road.
Pain Relief through Trigger Points I, Neck, Shoulder, Hand – This class will show students how to find and treat the trigger points causing these problems. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 23, Room 1570. Cost is $30 per class.
Pain Relief through Trigger Points II: Back, Hips, Knees – This offering will help students find and treat the areas causing problems in these specific areas. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 30, Room 1570.
