KUDOS: Rock Creek CAMP gets $5,000 grant

The Grants Office announced the award of $5,000 to PCC from the Juan Young Trust for the CAMP Summer Institute. This grant will fund a 5-day summer orientation and skill-building institute for incoming students of the College Assistance Migrant Program, based at the Rock Creek Campus. The orientation will build a cohort of students and increase program retention.

Poppe joins Student Learning Centers
Shawna Poppe has been hired as a full time administrative assistant in the Student Learning Center at the Rock Creek Campus. Shawna has been working in the SLC since 2005 and has a long list of special skills and training that will greatly benefit not only the Student Learning Center but also the college as a whole. In addition to working full time she is also pursuing a degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling.

Community Education students on exhibit
PCC Community Education students exhibited black and white photography in
the Pearl District during “First Thursday” on Aug. 7. The PoCo Photo Collective, a group of local photographers who came together through the Black and White Photography class offered by Community Ed are showed their work at Dynagraphics Art Lounge. The students just returned from exhibiting their work in New York City in a week-long show at the Manhattan World Culture Open Center.
