Crowds, lines and few parking spaces as fall term begins

Photos and story by

Our school year runs fall-to-summer, making today not only the first day of fall term but the first day of the 2008-09 school year.

And if you tried parking at any of our campuses, you already know this.

“Jammed” was the word of the day for commuting students … and for us, that’s pretty much everyone. I was at Southeast Center and Sylvania. James Hill, my partner in crime, was at Rock Creek and Cascade. Pretty much the same experience all around.

It’s a busy enough day that we didn’t do any informational outreach on the bond. Time enough for that later. But not too much later: Ballots go out to homes in about 25 days, and the voting deadline is only 42 days out.
