KUDOS: Rock Creek programs add instructors

Josephine Pino, Leslie Chao and Candace Winstead have been hired as new biology instructors at the Rock Creek biology program. Pinto previously worked at the Community College of Rhode Island where she served as an assistant professor of biology and the biotechnology program coordinator. During her time in Rhode Island, she was adjunct faculty at Bristol Community College, an adjunct faculty member at Roger Williams University and she also taught Chemistry and Marine Biology at Rocky Hill High School in East Greenwich.
Winstead used to work at the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo where she was an assistant professor of biology and taught microbiology, general microbiology, immunology and medical microbiology. She also worked with undergraduate students guiding them in basic science research. Prior to her position with California Polytechnic State University, she was an assistant professor of biology at Central Washington University.
Chao has been an adjunct biology instructor at the Sylvania Campus since fall of 2007. She was a teaching assistant at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash., from Sept. 2002 until July 2005.

Brewster joins Landscape Technology program
Elizabeth Brewster has been hired as an instructor in the Landscape Technology program at the Rock Creek Campus. Brewster worked at the Tuefel Nursery where she was a landscape designer. She has also worked with D&R Nurseries as a sales representative here in Portland. She has experience teaching botany, taxonomy, plant pathology, soils, gardening techniques, greenhouse growing/nursery production and equipment.
