Discussion planned for impact of climate change in the Willamette Valley

Photos and story by

On Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at the Washington County Museum, Brian Doyle will explore the dilemma of global warming and its consequences in the Willamette Valley. While we are quite sure that humans are causing climate warming and sea level rise, there is still much uncertainty about how rapidly this will happen and the response of plant and animal life to these changes.

Doyle will present enough background material to familiarize audience members with the concept of global warming and some of the consequences. There will be a discussion of skeptics’ arguments and a well-organized effort to distort scientific findings. Doyle will review our understanding of the earth’s climate extending back several million years and compare that record to current trends and projections.

The Washington County Museum is located on the Rock Creek Campus. It is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, except major holidays. Admission is free for PCC faculty, students and staff.
