PAVTEC awarded grants to continue tech prep partnerships

Portland Community College’s Grants Office announced three grant awards totaling $276,249 from the Oregon Department of Education to the PAVTEC program.

Two of the grants ($208,970 and $59,279) fund PAVTEC activities, including Perkins support for Career and Technical(education, with partner school districts like Beaverton, Hillsboro, Portland Public, Tigard-Tualatin, Forest Grove, St. Helens, Banks, Gaston, Vernonia, Scappoose and Sherwood. The third grant ($8,000) funds the 14th Annual Middle School Girls (Conference, which brings 7th and 8th grade girls together with professional women in the sciences.

PAVTEC is a technical prep consortium between PCC and all K-12 school districts within the college’s district, designed to enhance the access of high school and PCC students to quality professional technical education.

PCC will use grant to develop distance education pathway for other colleges

The Grants Office also announced the award of $72,912 from the Oregon Department of Community Colleges & Workforce Development to PCC and partner colleges. In collaboration with six other Oregon community colleges, PCC will design a distance learning educational pathway that provides access to an entry-level certification program in Addiction Counseling to individuals in rural communities.
