Photos and story by James Hill
The PCC Grants Office announced the award of $81,171 to PCC from the Oregon Department of Community Colleges & Workforce Development. This grant will allow PCC to develop a statewide CIS – Health Informatics AAS degree in conjunction with Umpqua Community College. This will meet anticipated future workforce needs in the growing field of health informatics. The project will also build on existing efforts between the state of Oregon and Oregon community colleges to improve statewide access to healthcare education.

Montoya picked to lead ROOTS program
Lynn Montoya has accepted the director position in the Sylvania Roots Program. Montoya has been at PCC since 1999. Before coming to Roots, Lynn was a Student Resource Specialist in the Computer Technologies Divisions and also worked for a short while in the PCC Prep Program.
“Lynn has been doing an excellent job in her interim role, and we are very fortunate she has agreed to continue, now in a permanent position,” said Linda Gerber, Sylvania Campus president. “I feel very fortunate to have someone with this great combination of education and community service experience.”
Previously Montoya worked in Arizona as an education program specialist, case manager and teacher. Before that she was an administrator in social service agencies in Washington state.
Kudos to Lynn!
