Sylvania to host Genocide Awareness Week

Genocide Awareness Week will take place at the Sylvania Campus the week of April 6. All PCC faculty, staff and students are welcome and invited to attend a survivor/activist speaker series, held at noon each day that week in the PAC lobby.

Speaker Schedule:

Monday, April 6 – Cory Preston, “Stop the Genocide Now,” Darfur activist

Tuesday, April 7 – Chann Noun, Cambodian genocide survivor

Wednesday, April 8 – Gloria Ngezaho, Rwandan/Burundi genocide survivor

Thursday, April 9 – Mustafa Sacirovic, Bosnian genocide survivor

Friday, April 10 – Holocaust survivor (speaker TBD)

Simultaneously, a slate of activities is scheduled to take place in the Upper CC Mall throughout the week, including:

· “Camp Darfur,” an interactive, educational display that calls attention to the ongoing genocide taking place in Darfur, Sudan

· “Genocide Film Corner,” an exhibit showcasing genocide-related documentaries and continuous informational broadcasts

· PCC’s “Literature of Genocide” class display

Please consider attending these events and encouraging colleagues and students to do so, as well. Faculty – your classes are welcome.
